Health inequality and the A&E crisis

This research briefing finds that the richest fifth of people in England can expect to live at least 12 more years of life in full health than the poorest fifth. Despite their shorter lives, poorer people make more use of NHS services ā€“ especially emergency services. It concludes that many emergency admissions to hospital are preventable by more effective primary care, community care and hospital outpatient care for long-term conditions.
